A few words from Gareth Neal about the design, creation and pure intent of the Love Seat; a piece created to lend something of balance and meaning to the world without drawing thoughtlessly and shortsightedly from the earth's limited resources.
'...The product is made without the use of electricity with entirely locally sourced green ash, it is manufactured in the same woodland that the timber was felled, and made on a traditional pedal powered pole lathe, as it would have been done pre the industrial revolution. This rare product pursues the notion of carbon negative, questioning whether a product could remove more carbon dioxide from the atmosphere than is released in its production. Gareth is going to extreme lengths in the pursuit of this goal from cycling to the woods from London to eating the lowest of carbon producing foods....'
Gareth Neal's website is undergoing redevelopment, however, we recommend checking back every now and then to discover more about the ambitious Love Seat project as well as Neal's other inspiring creations: www.garethneal.co.uk.
